PLANNING: My magazine reader
Ally,23,
has recently completed her university degree on business studies. While she did
well in her years there, she felt like her life was never balanced as she spent
most of her evenings partying into the early morning hours. Now that she has a
secure job, she wants to learn how to live a balanced life. She has begun to go
to bed slightly earlier at 10:30pm so that she has a full night’s rest before
waking up at 6:30am for work. She begins getting ready for work only at 7:30 so
she has found that waking up early gives her the chance to have a calm morning.
In this hour, she enjoys stretching, having a cup of green tea and journaling.
Ally no longer enjoys time on her phone as she finds that social media can be a
toxic environment. So, to help with this, she has a phone free hour when she
first wakes up. She also enjoys a good read, particularly books focusing on her
new aim of a balanced life. Her favorite book is called Calm by Fearne Cotton.
Ally’s job can be stressful at times. She is a PA for the head of Apple in
London. An ideal evening for her is when she gets to head straight to the gym
for a Pilates class to get her mind off any stressful thoughts from her day.
She then takes an evening walk home while stopping at her favorite florist to
pick out a bouquet of flowers. Once she gets home, she has a nice long shower,
using her favorite products and washing her hair. Next, she puts on her favorite
matching set of pajamas and starts preparing her dinner, one of her favorite
meals is a homemade stir fry. She finds her book and a comfortable seat on the
couch with her blanket. She uses her app Headspace and has a nightly
meditation. Afterwards she uses her phone and has a catch up with her social
media, spending time on TikTok and Instagram. She particularly enjoys following
Emilie Kiser, Avery Woods and Samantha Nicole. Ally enjoys watching Gilmore
Girls, so in the Autumn season she watches an episode in the evening. After
this, she preps her lunch for the next day, gets her clothes out and goes to
bed, falling asleep while listening to a calming playlist. She has realized that
she cannot listen to music with lyrics in the evening as this makes her start
singing, so recently she has only been listening to instrumentals or occasionally
using her white noise machine.
Reflection-My magazine reader:
In class I have spent time developing a character that would be a reader of my magazine. This way, I can decide every decision for the magazine by asking myself the question: Would Ally want/read this? I think that this is a great idea as I start to create my magazine and start making more important decision within it.
