RESEARCH: Rule of thirds

"The Rule of Thirds is the process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines. This imaginary grid yields nine segments with four intersection points. When you position the most important elements of your image at these intersections, you produce a much more natural image (in theory)." -taken from What is the Rule of Thirds

  • The traditional modern Western reader reads in the direction from left to right so this is important to consider when positioning objects/subjects in order of what will be seen first.

Reflection- rule of thirds:
I decided to research the rule of thirds in order to get more of an understanding for when I am taking my photographs for my magazine. I did this by looking at the website above and watching the video about the rule of thirds, as well as looking at examples online. I have found this rule incredibly interesting and will make a good edition for when I compose my photo shoot.
