RESEARCH: Robert Flaherty

 Nanook of the North

Reflection:

I found it interesting to learn more about the history of documentaries. I watched some of Nanook of the North and was able to start applying some of the documentary codes and conventions that I researched in the past. I found it particularly interesting that it was a silent film. The industry has completely changed as it is rare to now find a silent documentary as sound it used to the directors advantage to create emotion and meaning. In my own documentary, I think it is likely that I will use sound.
